A solver is an operator that fulfills intents in exchange for source-chain rewards. For a cross-chain route, it typically supplies the destination assets before it can withdraw the reward.

What a solver does

  1. Quotes a supported route based on inventory, execution costs, and settlement requirements.
  2. Checks that the published intent and funding match a route it can fulfill.
  3. Supplies destination tokens and executes the route through the Portal.
  4. Arranges the fulfillment proof required by the intent’s prover.
  5. Withdraws the reward once the proof is available on the source chain.
A quoting service and an onchain fulfiller are separate parts of a solver integration. Registering a quote endpoint does not itself execute intents.

Costs and settlement

Solvers account for gas, token prices, liquidity, proof fees, and the time between fulfillment and reward withdrawal. A reverted fulfillment transaction still consumes gas. A successful destination transaction does not mean the source reward is immediately available. For eligible same-chain intents, Flash Intents can use the vault’s reward instead of requiring the caller to front all route tokens.
